The YTO Foundation at the 2nd edition of "Assises des Mam'anges et Pap'anges"

The YTO Foundation , committed to promoting health and well-being in Côte d'Ivoire, took an active part in the 2nd edition of the Assises des Mam'anges et Pap'anges. The event, dedicated to parents who have experienced the loss of a child, aims to create a space for discussion, support and awareness-raising on subjects that are still taboo such as perinatal bereavement. The event was held on September 21, 2024 at Azalaï Hotel in Abidjan.

The communication of the YTO Foundation, which invests in medical and social initiatives, is in line with its mission to support Ivorian families affected by the pain of losing a child, often in traumatic circumstances. The event raised awareness of the importance of medical and psychological support, and also highlighted the role that advances in genetics, that is part of the YTO Foundation's expertise, can play in the prevention and management of perinatal complications.

A commitment to the well-being of families

Through its work in the field of precision medicine and genomics, the YTO Foundation contributes to research and prevention of complex diseases. Its contribution to this year's edition of Assises des Mam'anges et Pap'anges was marked by an awareness-raising session on genetic diseases and their potential impact on pregnancies and newborns. Indeed, the Foundation makes sure to informe families about genetic risks and to promote innovative screening tools to anticipate and manage complications associated with maternal and infant health.

Personalized support

At the conference, the YTO Foundation emphasized the importance of personalized support for bereaved families, including both psychological and appropriate medical support. The Foundation also stressed the need to build the capacity of healthcare professionals in dealing with perinatal bereavement, an aspect often neglected in the Ivorian healthcare system.

Towards a better management of perinatal bereavement

The YTO Foundation's participation in this event outlines its commitment in playing an active role in the well-being of Ivorian families. It continues to contribute to raising awareness and to promoting improvement of health services, while focusing on prevention, early detection and support for complications related to pregnancy and child loss.
